Mathematical model

Predicting the behaviour of the hydraulic networks allows us to control the system. Aigües de Sagunt is pioneer in network management with models of hydraulic simulation in real time, monitoring the operation and control of the network.

Modern water supply management requires more and more use of mathematical models of hydraulic simulation, given the complexity of the tubes, deposits and regulation elements which are necessary to guarantee the transport of water from the supply sources to the client, in adequate pressure and quality conditions.

What are mathematical models?

The hydraulic models replicate the real behaviour of the water distribution network, and for this reason they are a useful tool for knowing and predicting the state of the network, under different hypotheses of consumption or operation.

Since 1993 Global Omnium has disposed of a model of the supply network of València. Advances have subsequently been continuous, via the integration of the model with other management tools from the company such as the Geographic Information System which contains the data of all elements which constitute the drinking water networks, and then the Control and Acquisition of Data System, which allows for the daily control of the hydraulic system from a central point.

Currently the mathematical model operates in parallel with the Control and Adquisition of Data System, simulating the behaviour of the network in real time, allowing for the reproduction of the behaviour of the system in any past time and even in the future, to foresee how the network will respond in the next 24 hours. The mathematical model has been converted into a real simulator of the network in real time.

The connection of the mathematical model with the Control and Adquisition of Data System of the operation of the network allows us to simulate the behaviour of the system under any given circumstance, acting like a Decision Making Support System.
